Thursday, Nov. 27, Day 2

SOC 9 - This morning we got to watch "Stripped Down Romeo and Juliet" by a performing group called "Shakespeare in the Ruins". It was an awesome performance!!!

ELA 7 - We went through "The Big Question" sheet which summarized an article we read on the 'seven-no-so-well-known' wonders of the world.

CND 30 - We looked at pluralism today, and the four models of acculturation. We then applied the four models to historical scenarios.

SOC 10 - We spent time working on our Oka role plays.

Wednesday, Nov. 26, Day 1

Today grade sixes and sevens went on a Field Trip to Regina. We took in "Into the Woods" a musical that mixes several fairy tales together. We also went to the Science Center and the Imax. A good time was had!

Tuesday, Nov. 25, Day 6

SOC 9 - This morning we started unit two: Change. We started by getting acquainted with the continent of Europe by labeling and coloring a map.

ELA 7 - We had our spelling test today. We also got our new spelling words.

CND 30 - We looked at the information from last day on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and culture. We are currently working on a jigsaw that is dealing with the many groups of people who live in Canada and how they came to be a part of our country.

SOC 10 - After finishing watching our video on the Oka Crisis, we started our assignment which is a role play allowing students to see the many perspectives of people who are involved in the crisis. We will work on these role plays tomorrow.

Monday, November 24, Day 5

PAA 8 - We worked on our cookie cookbooks and prepared for our next cooking lab (Monday, Dec. 1.

HLTH 9 - We looked at anti-tobacco advertisements today and analyzed them.

ELA 7 - Some of the class performed their mystery stories this morning. The rest who have not gone will perform theirs next Monday. SPELLING TEST WILL BE TOMORROW.

CND 30 - We looked at culture a bit more today, and started looking at the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and how it protects all Canadians, no matter their race, culture, etc.

SOC 10 - Today we started looking at the Oka Crisis. We watched some videos on the CBC archives that showed the showdown between First Nations people and the Quebec police regarding land claims.

Friday, Nov. 21, Day 4

PAA 9 - We worked again on our hand sewing projects and also did some sewing machine tests.

SOC 9 - Had our unit one test today.

ELA 7 - A catch up class to work on assignments that needed to get done. REMINDER THAT OUR MYSTERY STORIES ARE DUE ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon we went to the theatre to watch Passchendaele. A great world war one movie!

Thursday, Nov. 21, Day 3

PAA 8 - We cooked like crazy today in preparing food for the Act 24 event this weekend. A HUGE thanks to all the grade eight students who helped out in today's class!!!! THANKS!!!!

HLTH 9 - This morning we looked at the "Tricks of the Trade" that advertisers use when promoting tobacco. We then got into partners to start analyzing tobacco advertisements. We looked at the messages they were sending, along with the target audiences.

REMINDER: Social test tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

ELA 7 - We worked again on our mystery stories in the drama theatre. Students were also to read the story 'King Tut's Tomb' and do a sheet on fact and opinion.

CND 30 - We watched the rest of "A Class Divided" and discussed the topic of culture in great depth.

SOC 10 - We looked at pluralism and culture, specifically looking at First Nations Treaty rights. We watched some CBC videos that showed the many controversies that deal with First Nations and the Canadian government.

Wednesday, November 19, Day 2

SOC 9 - We reviewed for our Unit One test today. TEST IS ON FRIDAY, NOV. 21

ELA 7 - We spent more time rehearsing for our mystery stories. We will practice these tomorrow in the drama theatre.

SOC 10 - We had our last class to work on our interest group assignment. THESE WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY, NOV 21. WE WILL HAVE NO MORE CLASS TIME TO WORK ON THESE.

Tuesday, September 18, Day 1

PAA 9 - We worked on our hand sewing projects today. Some students finished their projects!!!! REMINDER TO BRING IN MATERIALS FOR THE PILLOW DESIGN PROJECT ASAP.

ELA 7 - We had some rehearsal time today in the drama theatre for our mystery stories. I gave an example by sharing my story as well. We will have more rehearsal time on Thursday, and will perform the stories next week.

CND 30 - We looked at race and culture a bit more today. We had a bit of time to work on our Nature/Nurture assignment. These will be due on Friday, Nov. 21.

SOC 10 - Students worked on researching an interest group of their choice. We will have more time to work on these tomorrow.

SOC 9 - We finished up our unit today with culture and time. TEST IS ON FRIDAY, NOV 21.

ELA 7 - We worked a bit more on our mystery story. WE WILL PERFORM THESE ON THURSDAY, NOV. 20. IN THE DRAMA THEATRE. We also had a chance to attend the book fair.

CND 30 - Today we looked at racism and culture. We also had a bit of time to work on our nature/nurture assignment.

SOC 10 - We started looking at pluralism and lobby groups. We worked on questions WHICH ARE DUE TOMORROW (TUESDAY, 18). THE POLITICAL PARTY ASSIGNMENT IS ALSO DUE TOMORROW.

Friday, November 14, Day 5

PAA 8 - Today we made several batches of cookies, including chocolate chip, chocolate fudge, oatmeal, and ginger snaps. These were very well done and all students had enough cookies to take home!

HLTH 9 - We watched the rest of the video we started last day, and answered some questions on it. We will look at these next day.

ELA 7 - For language study today we worked some more on verbs. We did a rap/song/cheer that asked each group to include ten action verbs and then do actions to for the audience to see. These were quite hilarious, and very well done!

CND 30 -We worked more on nature vs nurture today. We started an assignment that analyzes a skill that the students possess by looking at both nature and nurture, and how they apply.

SOC 10 - Today was the last day to work on our political party ideology and political spectrum assignment. THESE WILL BE DUE ON TUESDAY, NOV. 18TH.

Thursday, November 13, Day 4

PAA 9 - Today we worked on getting a plan for our pillow design project. We also worked on organizing our portfolios and our hand sewing projects.

SOC 9 - We looked at culture and time today. QUESTIONS ARE DUE NEXT CLASS, MONDAY, NOV 17. We will soon be having a unit one test as well, on FRIDAY, NOV. 21.

ELA 7 - We spent time working on our mystery stories today. THESE ARE DUE ON MONDAY, NOV 17.

After lunch we had a pep rally and early dismissal!

Wednesday, Nov. 12, Day 3

PAA 8 - We studied up on cookies today, and learned the six types of cookies there are. We are also working on a cookie cookbook. Next class we will bake cookies!!!!!

HLTH 9 - After correcting our smoking questions we started watching a video called "Secrets Through the Smoke" which discusses the tobacco industry and the problems associated with smoking.

ELA 7 - We worked on our mystery story today. We will have more time to work on these in tomorrow's class. REMEMBER: SPELLING TEST TOMORROW!!!

CND 30 - We started our third unit today called "Culture". This unit begins with the discussion of human nature, nature vs. nurture, and socialization. We had some great discussions today.

SOC 10 - After correcting some information on political spectrums we worked in our groups to establish a new political party. Students had to describe the political party's ideology and where they would sit on the political spectrums. They will have more time to work on this tomorrow.

Friday, November 7, Day 2

This morning we had a very touching and meaningful Remembrance Day service. All students that contributed did a great job!

EL A 7 - We has some more discussions on our unit two topics: Mysteries and Uncanny Events. We also looked at our first assignment on this topic which is telling a mysterious story.

CND 30 - We had our unit two test today.

SOC 10 - After spending some time working on political spectrum questions (WHICH ARE ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY IF THEY DID NOT GET FINISHED), we looked at our next assignment which is creating a political party, along with its ideology and it placement on the political spectrums. These are being done in small groups.

PAA 9 - We worked on our hand sewing projects today.

ELA 7 - We did our Terry Fox Memorials today. They were AWESOME!!!! Very well spoken, and written. They were also very emotional and spine tingling. We started our next unit: Mysteries and Uncanny Events.

CND 30 - We studied for our test TOMORROW!!!!

SOC 10 - We looked at the political spectrum today. We filled in some charts and started questions.

ELA 7 - We worked on our Terry Fox memorial speeches today. WE WILL PERFORM THE SPEECHES TOMORROW, SO STUDENTS SHOULD PRACTICE THE SPEECHES TONIGHT SO THEY ARE READY TO GO TOMORROW.

CND 30 - Today we reviewed for our Unit Two test ON FRIDAY.

SOC 10 - We looked at ideologies today and started figuring out where each of us sits on the political spectrum. We also looked at more information on the political spectrum.

Tuesday, November 4, Day 5

PAA 8 - This morning we worked on salad questions and corrected them. We also cleaned and organized the PAA room.

HLTh 9 - We looked at reasons why the tobacco industry targets youth and worked on questions based on tobacco manufacturing. THESE QUESTIONS ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12.

ELA 7 - This is class was used to work on our adjective shape poetry.

CND 30 - We finished up unit two today!!! We will have review tomorrow and Thursday and OUR UNIT TWO TEST WILL BE ON FRIDAY.

SOC 10 - We worked on Locke and Hobbies questions. We also started discussing ideologies today.

Monday, November 3, Day 4

PAA 9 - We worked on hand sewing projects and a few people started doing their sewing tests.

SOC 9 - We looked at technology and time again today, and had some good discussions based on the pros and cons of technology.

ELA 7 - We had our spelling test today and then worked on our Terry Fox memorial assignment.

CND 30 - Today we looked at the Post Industrial model.

SOC 10 - After discussing sovereignty and legitimacy we worked on some questions based on two philosophers, Locke and Hobbes, who had some interesting viewpoints on how government should work.

Friday, October 31, Day 3

PAA 8 - To celebrate Halloween, today we made 'Bloodshot Eyeballs'. Sounds kind of gross, but they tasted really good!

HLTH 9 - We started our Tobacco Unit today. We did some brainstorming and notes.

ELA 7 - We finished 'Run' today and had time to work on reader response questions. READER RESPONSE IS DUE ON MONDAY, NOV. 3. We also started planning our assignment to wrap up 'Run': a memorial for Terry Fox. Each students will act as a person who was some how connected to Terry Fox and say a word of remembrance.

CND 30 - We looked at the Foreign Investment model today.

SOC 10 - Unit three began today: Ideology and Decision Making. We had some discussion based on decision making and legitimacy.
