Wednesday, Feb 25, Day 1

PAA 9 - This morning we had a presentation by Curtis Weber, a young Saskatchewan man who experienced a major injury while working on site as a teenager. Here is his story:
Curtis Weber was just 17 years old, fresh out of high school and three days on the job when he was electrocuted. He was not expected to live but thanks to the support of his family and friends he beat the odds. His injuries were extensive including the loss of leg and an arm.
Despite all the hardships endured, Curtis is a positive and very happy young man with a strong vision of his future. He married his wife Lori one year ago and just completed the Natural Resource Management Course at SIAST in Prince Albert.
Curtis Weber is now embarking on a mission to tell his story in the hope that it may save someone from having to travel the path he has had to. His message is simple: his accident should not have happened, every accident is preventable, he was a student who listened to presentations like his and thought "it will never happen to me" - but it did. Safety is everybody's responsibility both at work and at home! Employers have to look out for their employees and employees have to look out not only for themselves but for their co-workers as well!
