Thursday, March 18, Day 4

ELA 9 - Today the students have finished draft #1 of their research essay, with in text citations and a works cited page.

HLTH 9 - We worked on our HIV/AIDS response today. This will be due next health class which is Thursday the 25th.

SOC 9 - We went through our review today. We will continue to review on Tuesday, and will have the unit test on Thursday the 25th.

SOC 10 - Students finished up their International Research project poster.

ELA 20 - We read more of To Kill a Mockingbird. Chapter 1- 4 need to be read and questions done for Monday the 22nd.

Wednesday, March 17, Day 3

ELA 9 - We have been working on our research essays, including a lesson today on in text citations. Draft #1 will be due after tomorrow's class.

PAA 9 - We worked on winding the bobbin, and threading the machines today.

SOC 10 - The class spent time working on an international research assignment, where students looked at various countries and look down data on them. This will be used for comparisons and analysis tomorrow.

ELA 20 - We have started To Kill a Mockingbird!! We have read chapter one and two and the questions are due for Thursday.

Monday, March 15, Day 1

ELA 9 - We spent the class finishing up our research essays planners, and started working on a first draft.

PAA 8 - After our unit two test we worked on 'salad' questions. In one more class we will be cooking!!!

SOC 10/ELA 20 - We had a great opportunity to watch Simon Moccasin, a First Nations story teller today at CPS. It was a hilarious, entertaining show!!!

Wednesday, March 10, Day 4

ELA 9 - We worked on our research essays today, by reading the many articles and filling out a FQR (Facts, Questions, Response) chart. Most of the students also got to view their freedom speeches from last week that we video taped.

HLTH 9 - We read Chanda's Secrets the entire class - we are almost done!

SOC 9 - This class we spent time typing up our Inca travel letters.

PAA 9 - Yesterday we went through the small equipment information sheet. We will be having test tomorrow (Thursday).

SOC 10 - We worked on mapping out the top ten and lowest ten countries on the HDI Index. This will visually show the standard of living for various countries in the world.

ELA 20 - PEP Rally!!!! Today students had to hand in either a fairytale essay OR their children's story book.

Monday, March 8, Day 2

ELA 9 - We finished up our book talks today!

HLTH 9 - We worked on getting our HIV/AIDS survey data in graph or chart format to be displayed.

SOC 9 - After reading several chapters of Chanda's Secrets, we worked on our Inca travel letters.

SOC 10 - We started our new unit "Economic Decision Making" today. We did a quick activity on the wealth of the world (using pennies, and some aggressive behaviour :0 ) and then discussed the topic of scarcity.

ELA 20 - We spent the hour working on either fairytale essays or storybooks. ONE of these two projects is due on Wednesday's class.

Friday, March 5, Day 1

ELA 9 - Students have now finished their freedom speeches, and started their Holocaust book talks today. We will finish those up on Monday.

PAA 9 - We worked on the backstitch yesterday.

SOC 9 - After finishing up information on the Spanish Conquest, we worked on planning for our final project - two travel letters written from the perspective of an Incan citizen. We will also be preparing for our unit test next week.

PAA 8 - We worked on recipe conversions, parts of a recipe, and kitchen tools. We will start cooking in a couple classes.

SOC 10 - Students did their unit one test today!! Minority posters will be due on Tuesday of next week.

ELA 20 - We worked hard today to tie up any loose ends in our assignments. On Wednesday either our children's story books or personal essays are due.

Wednesday, March 3, Day 5

ELA 9 - We have been working on our freedom speeches and book talks. We started our speeches today, and will continue them tomorrow. We will also do our book talks on Friday.

HLTH 9 - Yesterday involved our class collecting data from our HIV/AIDS surveys and reading several chapters from Chanda's Secrets.

SOC 9 - We finished taking down information on Creating and Entertaining in the Inca culture. We started our last topic on the Spanish Conquest - the end of the Inca Empire. We will soon be finishing the unit with a test and writing project.

PAA 9 - Last class we spent time working on a handout learning about small sewing equipment, and today we worked on the backstitch. We will will soon be having a short quiz.

SOC 10 - A review for unit one has been given out. We are having our test on Friday. We have also been working on our minority voices poster which will be due next week. There is no more 'official' class time work on this project.

ELA 20 - Students have been working very hard on their Robert Munsch play review, fairytale essay, and children's story books. Review are due tomorrow.
