ELA 9 - We have been spending time looking @ the words of Martin Luther King Jr. and his speech, "I Have a Dream". The students are now spending time creating their own speeches based on the theme "I Believe Freedom Is..."

SOC 9 - Our last few classes we have been view and learning about Machu Picchu and its beauties.

ELA 20 - We have been analyzing children's literature, sharing views on fairytales and having some great discussions in the influence of media on youth and children.

CND 30 - Our dialectics are due TODAY, and we have also been working on a Pre-Contact First Nations timeline assignment.

The Week in Rap - Feb. 11, 2011

ELA 9 - We started preparing to read a short story called "Montreal, 1962", which is about culture in Canada. We will listen to the story on Tuesday's class.

HLTH 9 - Portfolios were due TODAY!!!! We also worked on sharing ideas for the 'history of dating' and read an article on dating. The questions for these are due next health class, Tuesday, Feb. 15th.

SOC 9 - We looked at Food, Travel, and Shelter in the Inca Culture.

ELA 20 - We did a paired response to memoirs on parents and family.

CND 30 - This class was used as a work period to research, plan, and write dialectic essays.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

ELA 9 - We read a short play on women's rights titled "The Fighting Days". We also worked on a response to the play.

PAA 9 - We finished the running, and oversewing stitch, and then started the backstitch.

ELA 20 - After our Figure of Speech Quiz, we worked on our poems, or letters.

CND 30 - We researched for our dialectic essay this class.

ELA 9 - We once again had a chance to have some great discussion through our panel discussions.

PAA 8 - After a quick kitchen safety quiz, we took some notes on food safety, and then started brainstorming ideas for our safety posters.

ELA 20 - Students did a reader response to two childhood poems. We have our figure of speech quiz on Tuesday.

CND 30 - After reading an article, and applying the dialectic process to it, students had a chance to share their ideas, and then started research for their dialectic essay assignment.

ELA 9 - This morning we spent time doing our panel discussions. The panels presented some great questions based on human rights, and the audience had some awesome responses!

HLTH 9 - Another class was spent working on our portfolios. These will be due NEXT WEEK. We also did a brainstorming actitivity for our next unit, dating: 101 Things to do on a Date in Langenburg and Area. Students are also asked to interview a parent or grandparent on the history of dating.

SOC 9 - We had some time to work on the Government and Army questions and spent some time looking at videos of Incan mummies.

ELA 20 - After a quick review on Figures of Speech, students had some time to work on their childhood poetry assignment.

CND 30 - We spent more time looking a the dialectic process.

ELA 9 - We worked on language study today, doing an assignment on sentence fragments and run on sentences. We also had time to read our Holocaust books.

PAA 9 - After correcting our small equipment handout we worked on how to tie a knot, thread a needle, and started the running stitch.

ELA 20 - After sharing some childhood memories, and having some laughs, we started an activity on figures of speech.

CND 30 - We talked about worldview, the dialectic process, and had time to work on our change assignment, due tomorrow.
