ELA 7 - We did language study looking at subject-verb agreement.
ELA 20 - After reading through our course outline, we began our first assignment that looked at how we deal with language in our lives, and the importance of it. This assignment is DUE TOMORROW.
SOC 10 - We checked out our course outline today, and started learning about social organizations, the main concept for Social 10.

PAA 9 - Our last class. We finished up some projects.
SOC 9 - Today we did corrections on a couple of assignments we have been working on. We will have a review class on Friday, and our unit two test is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3.
ELA 7 - We started an assignment that looks at comic strips. The assignment is due on Friday, Jan 30.

PAA 8 - We worked at cleaning the PAA room today! Our official last class :(
HLTH 9 - We corrected questions on chronic illnesses. We also started working on a handout that gives a personal story of a different teenagers who have different types of chronic illnesses. That response sheet is due next week: Wednesday, Feb. 3
ELA 7 - We started our new unit today: Lighten Up - On the Funny Side. To start out, we looked at four focus questions that got us thinking about the topic of humor. We are also starting a read aloud book called, "Riding Planet Earth". Reminder: Spelling Test Tomorrow!!!!

PAA 9 - We worked like mad to finish our design projects. Our last day of classes (Tuesday) is our last PAA class - I would advise students to have their projects done BEFORE then. Portfolios were due today as well!!!

SOC 9 - We looked at the reasons for the end of feudal Europe. Final drafts for the 'Day in the Life of' assignments are due on FRIDAY, the 23rd.
ELA 7 - After receiving new spelling words today we rehearsed our poetry interpretations. One group had a chance to perform theirs to the class. The other will go on Friday.

REMINDER FOR SOCIAL 9 - Feudalism "Day in the Life of" rough drafts were due today! If they were not handed in by 3:30 they will not get a draft corrected by me.

PAA 8 - We corrected our questions on quickbreads, did group evaluations for our last labs, and then we started to plan our final class of PAA :( Our last class will be spent doing a lab focused on breakfast foods. It will be a delicious class!
HLTH 9 - Our Tobacco Unit test is postponed until Tuesday the 20th. Today we started our next unit: Chronic Illnesses. We discussed the topic of chronic illnesses and started some questions that focus on what chronic illnesses are, and how to cope with one. They are due on Tuesday the 20th.

These last two days have been fairly uneventful due to the buses not running. Just a reminder that THE END OF SEMESTER ONE IS APPROACHING and assignments ARE DUE!!!!

SOC 9 - We did Health today instead of Social where we prepared for our Tobacco Unit test on Friday, the 16th.
ELA 7 - After receiving new spelling words we did a poetry interpretation. Each student received a mystery poem where they had to respond before, during and after reading it. This personal response is due tomorrow where we will then get into groups to share our answers and give a visual interpretation of the poem.
CND 30 - We worked on our dialectic essays. A rough draft needs to be turned in by Friday.

PAA 8 - Today we started our final unit: Quickbreads. We did some questions from the text and will bake quickbread next class (Monday) in our lab groups. We have only three more classes before end of semester!
HLTH 9 - We worked on a review for our tobacco unit. The review is due on MONDAY, Jan. 12 and the test will be next Friday, the 16th.
ELA 7 - We worked on polishing up a final draft of our mystery newspaper articles. These need to be handed in for next Monday.
CND 30 - We read some notes on globalization and Canada. Tomorrow we will start doing some research for our dialectic.

SOC 9 - We did some review today and then went through the four theories on why Rome fell.
ELA 7 - CURLING BONSPIEL
CND 30 - We finished up our Governance Unit today by looking at the groups of people who were not considered when the constitution was first created. We also looked at our final unit project, which is a dialectic that discuses a global issue. This dialectic will take us to the end of the semester.
SOC 10 - We started our last unit today which will be done through a research essay. Students are to take a current or historical event and after explaining it, link it to a curriculum concept that has to deal with maintaining and extending power. This essay will take us until the end of the semester.

PAA 9 - This morning we worked on our pillow design projects. WE HAVE THREE more classes to finish up this project before the end of the semester!!! Students who have not brought their material are behind and will need to make up some time out of class to finish their projects.
ELA 7 - We received new spelling words today and then read a short story called, "The Dinner Party". In groups the students wrote a short monologue written from the perspective of one of the characters of the story, and some of the students presented these to the class.
CND 30 - Students received a printout of their marks today. We finished off the presentation of the culture projects, and then we also corrected our information on Government and the Constitution.

Back At It... Monday, January 5, 2009, Day 6
Back at it... well sort of. A bit on an extended holiday for most students since buses weren't running today. Happy New Year! Just a reminder for SR. classes that finals are in just over two weeks. The new semester is less than a month away!
