Thursday, May 28, Day 4

PAA 9 - We worked on hand sewing and design projects.

SOC 9 - Students finished up their Chief Seattle Response assignment (rough drafts) and then worked on treaty questions. These are due on Monday, June 1st.

ELA 7 - We read a poem called the Passenger Pigeon. This poem discusses the topic of endangered animals, and students have started a writing assignment that resembles this poem. They each have been assigned an endangered animal and are to write a poem from its perspective.

ELA 20 - Two of our groups presented their panel discussions today. The rest will go tomorrow and/or next week.

SOC 10 - This class was used to finish up videos on the softwood lumber dispute and then we worked on questions dealing with NAFTA and the EU.

Wednesday, May 27, Day 3

PAA 8 - We caught up on our work this morning, which included finishing off our cookie cook books, doing cookie and quickbread questions, and picking a recipe for our next lab.

HLTH 9 - This class was the introduction to our sexual education unit. After the 'ground rules' were given, we started with some basic anatomy and found some vocabulary terms.

ELA 7 - Almost everyone is finished up their inquiry projects. We worked on the blog today, having more success than yesterday! :)

ELA 20 - This class was used to work on our panel discussion which are due tomorrow!!!

SOC 10 - We looked at protectionism in trade today, and watched some videos on the softwood lumber dispute between Canada and the US

Tuesday, May 26, Day 2

Social 9 - We went to the lab to work on our First Nations response. This response involved students reading Chief Seattle's First Nation view of nature, and then give their thoughts on the text along with personal examples. More time will be given to work on this project.

ELA 7 - This class was once again spent in the lab to work on inquiry projects and our blog. The Blog has been giving us some grief - due to technological difficulties. :(

ELA 20 - Our panel discussions were the focus of this class. This was the last day to spend working in the lab and tomorrow will be a day to organize the information, with the panel discussions being presented on Thursday, May 28th.

SOC 10 - We discussed the term of specialization a bit more today, and looked at opportunity cost, and absolute and comparative advantages.

Monday, May 25, Day 1

PAA 9 - We worked on hand sewing projects and design projects.

ELA 7 - We spent today's classes doing some work on our inquiry projects (which are almost all done) and started our Blog. The Blog is specifically for our grade seven class, which allows us to bring up topics concerning the environment and share our thoughts, opinions, and experiences about the world we live in. All comments are sent to my email to ensure the posts are safe and school appropriate.

ELA 20 - We had today's class in the lab to work on essays and panel discussion information. Essays and panel discussions are both due on Thursday.

SOC 10 - Unit three tests were handed back today. We looked at a CTV article that discussed gangs in Regina. We shared our thoughts on gangs as social organizations and discussed how gangs relate back to the Oka crisis, a topic we just learned about in unit three.

We then started unit four by looking at specialization and international trade. Reminder that our women's thought bubble is due on Wednesday, May 27. There will be no more class time to work on the assignment.

Friday, May 22, Day 6

SOC 9 - This morning we discussed the origin of First Nations people including creation stories, and the Beringia Theory. We also started looking at the topic of First Nations and the environment.

ELA 7 - After finishing up our exercise on works cited, we went to the lab to continue working on our Inquiry Projects. We will have a couple more classes next week to work on these projects.

ELA 20 - We worked on our panel discussion which will be due next week. We also looked at the last few assignments for ELA 20 - The end in drawing near! Reminder: Research Essay is due next Thursday, May 28th.

Thursday, May 21, Day 5

Here is an overview of what's been happening in my classes for the last little while:

ELA 7 - We have been working our an inquiry project and have spent the last few classes in the lab doing research and creating powerpoints and posters.

PAA 8 - We just had a lab where students made some delicious cookies! The created shortbread, rocky road bars, and rolo cookies! We also started a handout on quick breads which is our next unit.

PAA 9 - Many students have finished their hand sewing projects, and some are starting their design project. The design projects are planned out and STUDENTS NEED TO BRING MATERIALS NEXT WEEK (Monday 24th).

HLTH 9 - We just finished up our dating unit with our human sized dating violence collage and the unit test. Our next unit we will be starting next week is Pregnancy, Contraception, STIs and Abstinence. Students need to bring their parental forms by Friday, 22nd.

SOC 9 - Last week students finished up their First Nations posters and started information on First Nation Spirituality. A field trip to Wanaskewin is also planned for June 8 and 9th. Permission forms, and money needs to be in by Friday, 22nd.

SOC 10 - We just finished up our Ideologies unit with a test today.

ELA 20 - Students are starting to finish up their research essays. They will all be due next week. We are also starting our next assignment which is a panel discussion.

Monday, May 11, Day 6

Sorry for the lack of entries into this BLOG!!! Now that the drama productions are all over, I can have some time to tend to the little details in life!

Here is an overview of all of the activities and assignments we have been doing in the last little while in all my classes:


ELA 7 - We started our last unit: Doing our Part of Planet Earth. We began the unit by writing a descriptive paragraph and started an inquiry project that allows students to pick a question about the environment that they want to find the answer to. Research has begun!

PAA 8 - Today we baked cookies! Very delicious!!!!

PAA 9 - Students have been working on their hand sewing projects and NEED to bring in materials for their design projects asap!!!

HLTH 9 - Today we continued working on our human sized dating abuse collages. They are due on Thursday, May 21st. Students also received a dating unit review sheet for their test. It will be on May 21st also. After voting, students decided that the next unit they we will cover is the: Abstinence, Pregnancy, Contraception, and STI unit. A letter has been sent home with a short form that needs to come back with a parent signature.

SOC 9 - Students have been working on a First Nations poster that describes a certain Canadian First Nation Group. We will have a short amount of time to work on this project and they are due on Thursday, May 14th.

SOC 10 - We just finished up our OKA role plays today. We have also started a short section of women's rights in Canada.

ELA 20 - Students are still working hard on their Research Essays. A rough draft is due this Friday (May 15th).

Tuesday, May 5, Day 1

PAA 9 - We worked on our hand sewing kits. STUDENTS NEED TO BRING THEIR MATERIALS FOR THEIR HAND SEWING KITS ASAP!

ELA 7 - We had more discussions on the environment, and read a short essay called, "What a Certain Visionary Once Said". This essay looked at Northern Saskatchewan and the many beauties of it.

ELA 20 - This class was used to work on research for our essays. Each student handed in a tentative thesis statement that their essay will be about.

SOC 10 - We worked on our OKA roleplays. They are due on Friday.

Monday, May 4, Day 6

SOC 9 - We started our new unit: First Nations. We began our first assignment, which involves students researching different Nations of Canadian Aboriginal people.

ELA 7 - We finished up our book talks today and started our next unit: Doing Our Part for Planet Earth.

ELA 20 - Today we had our TKAM test.

SOC 10 - This class was spent on creating our OKA crisis role plays.

Friday, May 1, Day 5

PAA 8 - This class was used to work on our cookie cook books. Students will have some more time to work on these in upcoming classes.

HLTH 9 - We worked on our Dating Violence collage today.

ELA 7 - We spent this class continuing our book talks.

ELA 20 - A Sportsmanship Award Ceremony was presented to the boys curling team this period so we did not have class. Reminder: To Kill a Mockingbird test on MONDAY, May 4.

SOC 10 - We continued watching Oka videos and were introduced to a role play assignment we will be starting after the weekend.

Thursday, April 30, Day 4

PAA 9 - We worked on our hand sewing projects. Students should be bringing materials next week to start their design project.

SOC 9 - We had our unit three test today.

ELA 7 - We did our book talks today.

ELA 20 - We had Mrs. Katchin assist us with our research essays today, looking at in text citations and online databases.

SOC 10 - This was class was used to watch CBC Archive videos to learn about the Oka Crisis.
