Tuesday, March 31, Day 6

SOC 9 - This morning was used to work on our mock trials. Students will have only a couple more classes to prepare for the presentations.

ELA 7 - We received new spelling words today and then worked on reading section two in our independent novel studies.

ELA 20 - We went through chapters 6 and 7, and read chapter 8. The questions are due tomorrow.

SOC 10 - After correcting our First Nations Economics assignment, we had some time to go through our Unit Two Review. We will be having our test on Thursday, April 2.

Monday, March 30, Day 5

PAA 8 - After doing our unit two test, we planned for our first cooking lab: Salads. Students picked out a recipe and made a grocery list that will be used for Friday's class.

HLTH 9 - We worked on Online Dating questions this hour. We will finish correcting them next class.

ELA 7 - After spending some time working on synonyms, we either read our novels, or worked on our character portraits.

ELA 20 - Mrs. Welke was in today to discuss career guidance.

SOC 10 - We spent the period working on our First Nations Economic webquest and finishing up our Economic Systems Letter. They are both due tomorrow!!!!!!!! Also, a heads up: There will be a unit two test later this week.

Friday, March 27, Day 4

PAA 9 - We had our small equipment test today, and also worked on the sewing machines today. Our hand sewing products have been ordered and the payment for them can be made to Ms. Prince ASAP.

SOC 9 - We started the planning of our mock trials today. Students received their roles, and got together to share some of their ideas with each other.

ELA 7 - Students finished off their section one questions and then worked on character portraits for the rest of the class.

ELA 20 - We went through the questions for chapter 5, and then read chapters 6 and 7. These questions will be due on Tuesday, March 31st.

SOC 10 - We spent today's class learning about First Nations economics in Saskatchewan. We are currently working on a webquest that allows us to learn about the many First Nations businesses in Saskatchewan.

Thursday, March 26, Day 3

PAA 8 - After a kitchen equipment quiz, and correcting a recipe handout, we looked at various cooking terms. We also reviewed for our unit two test which will be on Monday, March 30.

HLTH 9 - After reviewing the history of dating, the students brainstormed the qualities they would like to see in someone they dated. We also looked at qualities that they might not like. We discussed the pros and cons of dating, and then started looking at the topic of abuse in dating. We listened to the song, "Sympathetic Character" by Alanis Morrisette, looking for signs of abuse.

ELA 7 - We started our main character portraits today. These are assignments that through visuals and written work describe the main character of the book they are reading. Section one of individual novels, along with questions must be done for tomorrow.

ELA 20 - We finished up reading the last of our story books and went through chapters three and four. We read most of chapter five. For homework students can finish off the chapter and do the questions.

SOC 10 - We worked on our Economic Systems Letter assignment. Rough drafts are due tomorrow.

Wednesday, March 25, Day 2

SOC 9 - We started researching for our mock trial assignment today. This included looking up some courtroom terms that will be used for our assignment. Students will receive their roles on Friday's class.

ELA 7 - We spent time reading, working on questions, and our booklets for our individual novel study.

ELA 20 - Students read their story books today! We also had a bit of time to work on chapter four of TKAM. Chapter three and four are due tomorrow.

SOC 10 - We reviewed the economic systems we learned yesterday, and started an assignment where students will write a letter from the perspective of a world leader about an economic system their fictional country has.

Tuesday, March 24, Day 1

PAA 9 - This class was used to work on the sewing machines and prepare for our small equipment test which is on Friday, March 27.

ELA 7 - Our classes today were used to finish our pre reading questions and begin reading our novels.

ELA 20 - We corrected our TKAM chapter one and two questions. We read chapter three and worked on questions.

SOC 10 - We had about 15 minutes to finish our Analyzing the Numbers assignment, which is due tomorrow. We also did four short questions on productivity which are due tomorrow. Finally, we learned about the four different economic systems we have in our world.

Monday, March 23, Day 6

SOC 9 - After correcting our Protestant Reformation questions we reviewed the Scientific Revolution and worked on an assignment. These are due on Wednesday, March 25th.

ELA 7 - This morning we received the books going to be used for our independent novel studies. We started planning for the unit by doing pre-reading questions. These are due tomorrow.

ELA 20 -We had some time to work on TKAM (To Kill a Mockingbird) chapter one questions and read chapter two. Both chapters one and two need to be done for tomorrow as we will go through them.

SOC 10 - We worked on analyzing the numbers we have researched for the standard of living of the world countries.

Thursday, March 19, Day 5

PAA 8 - Instead of cooking we attended an awesome performance by Green Thumb Theatre called Cranked. Here are some photos and information on the show:

Stan a.k.a. "definition" was a rising freestyle MC who loses it all because of his meth habit. He confronts his demons as he preps for an upcoming competition without the 'fix' that has dominated his life. Memories of the highs and the rush of music all collide as he struggles to recapture what he once had.This newly commissioned play will examine the rising epidemic of crystal meth use by teens. Using spoken word and hip-hop, playwright Michael P. Northey and Green Thumb Theatre offer a dramatic exploration of addiction and drug culture. Music written by Kyprios & Stylust, hip hop artists from Vancouver.



HLTH 9 - After debriefing Cranked, we talked about this history of dating. We looked at traditions from Victorian days, and some of the ways of our parents and grandparents.

ELA 7 - We corrected our worksheet on homophones and started looking at the topic of synonyms.

ELA 20 - Today we started the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird". Reminder that our story books are due on Monday, March 23.

SOC 10 - We worked on our country information posters. These are due on Monday, March 23.




Wednesday, March 18, Day 4

PAA 9 - We practised our sewing machine skills. We also prepared for a small equipment and sewing machine test which will be coming soon.

SOC 9 - We continued reading about the Protestant Reformation and worked on some questions. These are due on Monday, March 23rd. We also started reading about the Scientific Revolution.

ELA 7 - Today Mrs. Katchin gave us book talks for our next unit on historical fiction. Each student will be doing their own novel study.

ELA 20 - After a great discussion on the transition from childhood to adulthood we read a short excerpt called, "For Everything there is a Season".

SOC 10 - We worked on a research project where students picked a country, finding some basic stats on the country, including GDP, population, literacy rates, and life expectancy. Students are presenting this information on posters and will be used for an analyzing assignment.

Tuesday, March 17th, Day 3

PAA 8 - We reviewed kitchen utensils, and parts of the recipe. We also worked on recipe conversions.

HLTH 9 - Together we created a list of 101 Things to do on a Date to kick off our dating unit. We also corrected dating questions that were due for today's class.

ELA 7 - We read more of our misadventure stories.

ELA 20 - We finally finished off our poetry interpretations. We also read a short essay called, "Why do you Talk Like a Girl?" and had some discussion about it.

SOC 10 - After looking at GDP and GDP per capita we started a new activity that allows us to look at various countries in the world and compare the characteristics that make up standard of living.

Monday, March 16, Day 2

SOC 9 - We finished our last debate today, and then worked on Protestant Reformation questions from the text. There will be more time to work on these next class.

ELA 7 - This class was spent sharing our Misadventure Stories. We will finish those stories, and the unit up tomorrow.

ELA 20 - We looked at the topic of school and memories in today's class. After discussing the idea of having both positive and negative memories, we watched several CBC videos on Residential schools, and the idea that many school memories are not good for everyone. We also read the poem, "I Lost My Talk" by Rita Joe and did a response to it.

SOC 10 - This class was used to work on our Standard of Living maps. They are due tomorrow, along with the question sheets that go with them.

Friday, March 13, Day 1 - FRIDAY THE 13th!!!!

PAA 9 - This morning we spent some time working on the sewing machines and preparing for our first sewing machine project: The Mini Pillow

ELA 7 - We received new spelling words, presented our surveys, and wrote and presented limericks in our two classes this morning.

ELA 20 - This was our last class to work on our children's story books. They will be due later next week.

SOC 10 - We worked on our standard of living assignment, which involved locating countries on a world map that shows which ones have the highest and lowest standard of living. We will have more time to finish these up on Monday.

Thursday, March 12, Day 6

SOC 9 - We looked at art work to distinguish between Medieval and Renaissance time periods. This helped us visualize the difference between the two paradigms at that time. We also started reading about the Protestant Reformation.

ELA 7 - Today we finished off Riding Planet Earth, the novel we have been reading in class. We also began a lesson on the Limerick.

ELA 20 - We read a short story about memories of school, and then had the rest of the period to work on our Children's Story books. We will have tomorrow's class to work on them and they will be due later next week.

Wednesday, March 11, Day 5

PAA 8 - Students were gone for French/Art trip.

HLTH 9 - We had our Chronic Illness test and started our next unit: Dating. There are dating questions that are due on Tuesday, March 17th. Students should also interview a grandparent, parent, etc. about the history of dating.

ELA 7 - We worked on our surveys and then corrected our editing challenges. Nick Carlson, Tory Yont, and Kyler Muir won our first challenge. Then next challenge was boys against girls. Girls won this one. We then had the left side of the room take on the right side. The left hand side won by a single point. Our last challenge was for the whole class, and Nick Carlson brought in another win! Good job!

ELA 20 - We watched two of the poetry interpretations and then worked on our children's story books.

SOC 10 - We looked at scarcity, allocation, and started an assignment on standard of living. We will spend more time on this on Friday's class.

Tuesday, March 10, Day 4

PAA 9 - After our Eagle of the Month assembly, we worked on getting our sewing machines in order by winding bobbins and threading the machines. Some students even started sewing on the machines.

SOC 9 - We did another debate today. The last group will go on Thursday's class.

ELA 7 - This class was used to work on our Survey Says assignment.

ELA 20 - After a discussion on fairy tales we worked on our storybooks. Tomorrow we will do our Poetry Interpretations.

SOC 10 - We started our next unit: Economic Decision Making. We did an activity that looked at the worlds distribution of wealth, and discussed terms such as scarcity, allocation, and standard of living.

Monday, March 9th, Day 3

PAA 8 - We finished up our kitchen scavenger hunt, and after correcting our kitchen utensil sheets, we learned about parts of the recipe.

HLTH 9 - Today we reviewed for our Chronic Illness Test on Wednesday, March 12th. Our final projects are also due on Wednesday.

ELA 7 - We worked on our Survey Says assignment today, collecting data.

ELA 20 - Today was spent on creating our childhood story books and working on our poetry interpretations.

SOC 10 - We did our Unit One test this class.

SOC 9 - This class was used to present our debates. We got through two groups today, and the next two will go on Tuesday, March 10th.

ELA 7 - Pep Rally!!!!

ELA 20 - We spent time planning our Children's Storybook.

SOC 10 - Last class to work on our minority posters. They are due on Tuesday. Unit one test is also on Monday!!!

Thursday, March 5, Day 1

PAA 9 - This morning we worked at learning the parts of the sewing machine, and started winding bobbins.

ELA 7 - This class was used to create our surveys for our Survey Says assignment.

ELA 20 - Students worked on either their Children's Lit. Analysis, Fairytale Essay Response (Both due tomorrow), Children's Story Book, or Poetry Interpretations.

SOC 10 - This class was used to study for the unit one exam. The exam has been changed until Monday, March 9th. Tomorrow we will finish up our minority posters.

Wednesday, March 4, Day 6

SOC 9 - We used this period to work on health. We went to the lab to continue our chronic illness project. If students are doing an interview it must be conducted by Monday, March 9, and the projects will be due on Wednesday, March 11th.

ELA 7 - We started a new assignment today called, "Survey Says". This is a survey where students ask people they know about what types of comedy television shows they watch.

ELA 20 - This class was used to finish reading the essay, "Softening the Stories", an essay about fairytales. Students had time to work on a response to the essays, and their children literature analysis. These will both be due on Friday, March 6th.

SOC 10 - We reviewed for our unit one test which is on Friday, March 6th.

Tuesday, March 3, Day 5

PAA 8 - Today we started unit two, which looked at kitchen equipment. We did a worksheet, and started a kitchen scavenger hunt.

HLTH 9 - We continued on with Social Studies today instead of Health. We got our debates organized today and will do them on Friday, March 6.

ELA 7 - This was a catch up class today. Missing assignments needed to be handed in.

ELA 20 - We continued to look at fairy tale critiques and responses to them.

SOC 10 - We worked on minority posters and test review. The test will be on Friday, March 6.

Monday, March 2, Day 4
