ELA 9 - Students have read up to chapter 21 in The Loki Wolf, along with doing their chapter questions. We will be correcting these tomorrow. Today we also did some language study on types of sentences.

PAA 9 - We worked on our hand sewing, mini pillow, and design projects.

SOC 9 - Yesterday students did a worksheet on the creations and architecture of Rome. They are due for tomorrow.

SOC 10 - Students have been working on a response to an article they had to find on lobbying for women's rights. This is due tomorrow. They also started an assignment where they are to research a lobby group in Canada and then connect it to their own views.

CND 30 - Today was another work period for our culture projects. These will be due early next week. We will also be having a unit test early next week.

ELA 9 - We have been working away on our Loki Wolf novel study the past few classes. We are currently done reading chapter 15 and the chapter questions are due for tomorrow's class.

HLTH 9 - We are now working on a gambling section in our Addictions unit. We read some basic information on what a gambling addiction is, the ways people may take part in gambling, and problem signs. We also watched a short video based on this topic.

SOC 9 - After finishing up going through the information on our Ancient Rome jigsaw, we had a quick review game.

SOC 10 - We have been discussing the issues of pluralism and interest groups. Students had questions to work on and also did a response based on the topic. They will have a bit more time tomorrow's class to finish up their political party assignment.

CND 30 - Our final project has been started for this unit. Students have been given a cultural group who has had a struggle in Canada's history. From here they will research and create either a poster or website displaying the information. We will also be soon having a test for unit three.

ELA 9 - Yesterday was a SADD fundraiser that had a student teach a class. A shout out to the student who took over my role as teacher - a fabulous job done teaching our Loki Wolf novel. :) Today we did some language study on colons and semicolons and on Monday we will go through chapter five and six of The Loki Wolf.

PAA 8 - Students had another class to work on their cookie cookbooks. They will be due next week if students did not get finished.

PAA 9 - We once again worked on our hand sewing projects. We will will very soon be starting our design projects so students should have a plan for what they would like to do and also bring in materials needed for it.

SOC 9 - Students have been working on their Roman jigsaw. Students are to bring what they have done to class on Monday and we will go through the information.

SOC 10 - We had another class to work on our Political Party assignment, and will have some time on Monday to finish it up.

CND 30 - We viewed a video today called "The Pathology of White Privilege" that shows white privilege in the United States. A thought provoking speech done my Time Wise... Food for Thought...

ELA 9 - The last two classes students have been reading The Loki Wolf, a suspense novel by Saskatchewan author, Arthur Slade. Today we read up to chapter 5 and students have chapter questions to answer for tomorrow. Check out the book on Arthur Slade's website:

HLTH 9 - Students watched a video titled "The Gateway", filmed in Surrey BC, using personal stories of those or the family of people addicted to drugs and alcohol. A very graphic and informative video.

SOC 9 - Students have been working on a 'jigsaw' assignment that has them read and create notes on different topics relating to the life or Romans. They will have more time work on this next class.

SOC 10 - We have been working on our political party ideology assignment.

CND 30 - After going though the many groups and waves of immigration in Canada, we started looking at the four acculturation models.

ELA 9 - This morning we had Susan Weinheimer from the Parkland College come to our class to share some ideas and thoughts on Career Education.

PAA 8 - After correcting our cookie questions, we worked on our cookie cookbook.

SOC 10 - Students started a project today based on creating a political party, sharing its ideologies and the political spectrums it falls under.

ELA 9 - Students finished up their response to the three Norse Myths we read. Students also worked on language study today, practicing the use of colons and semi colons. We will wait until after the break to start our novel study: The Loki Wolf.

PAA 8 - Yesterday we baked cookies!

PAA 9- Students are working hard on their hand sewing projects.

SOC 9 - We read and made notes on the Roman Army.

SOC 10 and CND 30 - Yesterday afternoon, both Social Studies classes had a chance to take part in a presentation on residential schools from four individuals who have either attended a residential school, or had parents who did. Through videos, and sharing of personal stories, students had a chance to understand what trials and tribulations many First Nations people of Canada had to deal with in their past and how it lingers into today's generations. A very informative, and emotional presentation, that was eye opening for all.

ELA 9 - We spent more time reading several Norse myths today.

PAA 9 - Today we worked on our hand sewing projects.

SOC 10 - We went through our charts/questions on political spectrums.

CND 30 - Much discussion happened today on our class based on the topics of culture, race, and discrimination.

*** On Monday grade my 10 and 12 Social Studies students will be spending the afternoon listening to three First Nations elders who will be sharing their knowledge and experience of Residential Schools.

ELA 9 - Today was a class to finish up rough drafts of our Remembrance Day writing, and our Four Voices assignment.

HLTH 9 - After debriefing our Take Our Kid to Work day experiences, the students had a chance to make Thank-You cards for the locations they went to.

SOC 9 - This class was spent on a an assignment that dealt with the government and leadership in Ancient Rome. This is due for Monday, Nov. 8th.

SOC 10 - We spent some time putting together our rough drafts of economic letters from unit two. The rest of class was spent on discussion of Canadian Issues.

CND 30 - After an awesome discussion on the Brown Eyed/Blue Eyed Experiment and the topic of racism and discrimination, students did a response on nature and nurture and applied the topics to their own lives. This is due tomorrow!

Today was Take Our Kids to Work day for the grade nine students! They got a chance to spend the day with their parents or another adult in the work force!

PAA 8 - Students worked on cookie questions and were put into lab groups for our next cookie lab. Our cookie questions are due next class, Monday, November 8th.

SOC 10 - After correcting our Locke and Hobbes questions which were due today, we continued to work on the political spectrum charts that were started yesterday. These are due tomorrow, November, 4th.

CND 30 - We watched a video called "A Class Divided" concerning the topic of racism and an experiment with her grade three class in 1968 after the death of Martin Luther King Jr. To teach her students about racism and discrimination, Ms Elliot had them take part in a Blue Eyed Brown Eyed Experiment. ELA 9 - We reflected on our Remembrance Day unit and then started on Unit Two: Norse and Indigenous Myths. We watched a short video on the creation story of the Norse. Students filled out a chart with information about important characters and places.

PAA 9 - All students worked on their hand sewing projects.

SOC 10 - We finished up the Locke and Hobbes questions (due for Wednesday).

CND 30 - Today we started Unit Three: Culture. We started class with definitions of nature and nurture and shared some ideas about the two. We worked on a handout that allowed us to connect nature and nurture to our own lives.
