Wednesday, December 17, Day 3

PAA 8 - We finished up our cookie unit today by correcting our cookie questions and working on our cookie cook books. The cook books are due on Friday. We also did some 'house cleaning' and got the PAA room ready for Friday's Christmas Banquet.

HLTH 9 - Today was our last day to work on our Tobacco Action Plans. They are due on Friday.

ELA 7 - We worked on our Saskatchewan Mysterious Newspaper Article. Most students are finished the rough draft. Tomorrow is our homemade Christmas present exchange.

CND 30 - We did two culture presentations today and then had time to work on our Government and Constitution questions. They are due tomorrow.

SOC 10 - We finished off our videos on the Softwood lumber dispute between the US and Canada. We started looking at International and Regional groups that work to create fair trade among nations.

Tuesday, December 16, Day 2

SOC 9 - We discussed change a bit more and took some notes on the types of change, and the process of change. Extensions for the worldview assignment will be given until tomorrow (Wed. 17th) due to the buses not running yesterday.

ELA 7 - We worked on our mysterious newspaper article today. Reminder that our homemade gift exchange needs to be ready for Thursday 18th.

CND 30 - Our culture project deadlines will be extended until tomorrow (Wed. 17th). Today we worked on government and constitution questions. They will be due on Thursday the 18th.

SOC 10 - We continued watching the softwood lumber dispute videos from the CBC Archives.

Buses were cancelled today. Hopefully this weather warms up! :)

Friday, December 12, Day 6

SOC 9 - We looked at the topic of sanctions and started change questions from the text. The questions and the worldview poster are due on Tuesday, December 16th.

ELA 7 - We had only a short amount of time to pick our topics for our Sask. Mystery Newspaper Article as half of the class was used to attend an assembly on the "Brick by Brick" Campaign.

CND 30 - We spend time looking at the Confederation and then had some time to work on our culture projects which are due on Tuesday, Dec. 16th.

SOC 10 - We looked at protectionism and trade and started a CBC video on the Softwood Lumber problem between Canada and the US.

Thursday, December 11, Day 5

PAA 8 - We finished up our sugar cookies today. Students baked, decorated, and finally distributed their cookies to others in the school! Good work!

HLTH 9 - We worked again on our Anti-Tobacco Action plans. Students will have ONE more class to work on the project. They are due the last day of classes before holidays, the 19th.

ELA 7 - After finishing up our sentence structure assignments, students got together in partners or small groups to create a quiz on sentence structure that they will give to their peers.

CND 30 - We discussed political discourse and political systems today. We also started looking at the constitution of Canada.

Wednesday, December 10, Day 4

PAA 9 - Nearly all the students are done their hand sewing projects. ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING THEIR MATERIALS FOR THEIR DESIGN PILLOW PROJECT ASAP!!!!!!!

SOC 9 - We worked on our worldview poster all class. There will be some time to work on the project next class. They will be due next week.

ELA 7 - Today we started our Saskatchewan Mystery News Article assignment. We will spend more time researching and creating the newspaper article in the upcoming classes.

CND 30 - We had our Unit Three Culture test today. Our Culture Projects will be due early next week.

SOC 10 - Today we talked about specialization, opportunity cost, absolute and comparative advantage. We did an activity to learn more about these terms.

Tuesday, December 9, Day 3

PAA 8 - This morning we started baking our Christmas sugar cookies. We will bake more cookies and decorate them also on Thursday's class.

HLTH 9 - We worked on our Anti-Tobacco Action Plan assignment today. We will have two more full classes to work on this project as they are due on the last of classes before holidays, the 19th.

ELA 7 - Today we read "The Giant Hoax" and talked about parts of newspaper articles in preparation for our next writing assignment.

CND 30 - We did a quick review and then looked at our new unit: Governance

SOC 10 - We wrote our unit three test today.

Monday, December 8, Day 2

SOC 9 - We worked on our worldview poster assignment. More time will be given to work on this project next class.

ELA 7 - We finished up our "Oak Island" reading guide today. Also, we started talking about hoaxes in preparation for our next article.

CND 30 - It was decided to change the date of our test until Wednesday, Dec. 10th. Today was our last full day to work on our culture projects. Tomorrow we will start our next unit.

SOC 10 - We did a quick review for our test tomorrow. We also started our next unit today.

Friday, December 6, Day 1

PAA 9 - We worked on our sewing projects once again. STUDENTS NEED TO BE BRINGING MATERIAL FOR THE PILLOW DESIGN PROJECT!!!!

ELA 7 - This morning we were supposed to watch a Sask. Roughrider presentation at Hoffmann. The students ended up not going until the afternoon, so we had a morning of gym (with the grade six class), working on creating decorations for the ELA/Social Room, and planning our ''Homemade Gift Exchange". This is a fun and non-expensive way of having a gift exchange. We picked names and you must bring a gift for the person you received - the only rule is you need to CREATE the gift. Ideas for gifts include baking, drawings, a burnt CD, a piece of jewelery, or a knitted scarf :) As long is it is homemade, it will make a great gift. We will do the gift exchange on THURSDAY, the 18th.

CND 30 - We worked on our culture projects this class. The project will be due later next week.

SOC 10 - We had a period for review for the test. Test in on Tuesday, Dec 9th.

Thursday, December 4, Day 6

SOC 9 - Today we looked at the concept of worldview. We took some notes and also received and started an assignment based on our worldview.

ELA 7 - We did some housekeeping today; I handed back assignments that were corrected, and students handed in assignments that needed to yet be turned in. We then received our new spelling words.

CND 30 - We worked on our culture project in today's class. Students also got their unit two review outline. We will have our test on Tuesday, December, 9th.

SOC 10 - We worked on our test review today. We will have some time tomorrow also to review. We will have our test on Tuesday, December 9th.

Wednesday, December 3, Day 5

PAA 8 - Today we baked cookies/slices! Job well done to the four lab groups. Our delicious recipes included: Skor Bit Cookies, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies, Carmel Chocolate Slice, and Texas Brownies. Ms. Prince is very full today....

HLTH 9 - We started our action plans today for our anti-tobacco campaign. Every class until the end of December will be used to work on this action plan. They are due the last day before Christmas holidays.

ELA 7 - After our spelling test we looked at sentence structure. We worked on a worksheet. We will have more time to work on these during the rest of the week.

SOC 10 - We finished up our unit today with a look at women's rights, and how women have lobbied the government to create equality between the genders. We looked specifically at the Bird Commission and how it has created change for women in Canada. We also received our unit three test review. TEST WILL BE EARLY NEXT WEEK.

Tuesday, Dec. 2, Day 4

PAA 9 - We worked on hand sewing projects and finished up nearly all the sewing machine test. STUDENTS WHO ARE DONE NEED TO BRING MATERIALS FOR THEIR PILLOW DESIGN PROJECT FOR NEXT CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOC 9 - We worked on Health today. We continued to look at anti-tobacco advertisements, both print and video.

EL A 7 - Our spelling test is postponed until Wednesday. We read "Oak Island Treasure Hunt" and did a BDA (Before-During-After) strategy with it.

CND 30 - We started working on our final project for the culture unit. We will be having a unit test next week.

SOC 10 - We did our Oka Crisis role plays today. We also started looking at feminism, our last topic in this unit. We will be soon having a test for our third unit.

Monday, December 1, Day 3

PAA 8 - We worked on finishing up our cookie cookbooks today. We will bake cookies on Wednesday's class.

HLTH 9 - We did a 'switcheroo' today and worked on Social Studies instead. We had the hour to color and label our maps of Europe. This was our last class to work on this project. The maps will be due Thursday, Dec. 1.

ELA 7 - We finished up our mystery stories today in the drama theatre. We then had some time to start correcting our fact/opinion sheet. SPELLING TEST TOMORROW!

CND 30 - We are coming to the end of our culture unit. We looked at the topic of racism in history, specifically looking at First Nations land rights, and residential schools. We talked about how the government has been involved in helping 'right' the wrongs of the past.

SOC 10 - Today was our last class to prepare for the OKA crisis role plays. We will perform these tomorrow.
